Большинство реализаций компилятора, которые я видел, просто «встраивают» базовый объект в производный объект. Становится неважным, где хранится vtable, потому что относительное смещение в объект будет просто добавлено во время компиляции по мере оценки ссылок.

Множественное и виртуальное наследование более сложны и могут потребовать разного смещения в зависимости от того, к чему осуществляется доступ.
